Advocacy Committee

The role of the Advocacy Committee is to track preservation related issues within Lincoln specifically, but also Nebraska to ensure a voice is heard to safeguard our historic assets. This committee meets regularly to discuss upcoming projects, legislation, and pending action items to identify impacts to historic properties and determine how to advocate most successfully for the best outcome.

Awards Committee

The Awards Committee meets only a few times at the beginning of each year to pull together the annual awards program that highlights the great work done in Lincoln the past year. This group solicits nominations, selects award worthy preservation projects, and then puts on the awards program at the annual meeting.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is a busy committee working on website updates, email communications, social media posts, and other materials to keep our members engaged with what is going on around Lincoln’s preservation scene. This group plays an important role in disseminating information and showing the work done behind the scenes at PAL.

Education Committee

Another group that is quite active is the Education Committee which works to provide resources for our membership and the community to further preservation activities. Whether that is pulling together a list of preservation minded contractors in the community or creating a book list of great preservation reads, this group is working to keep local preservationists in the know.

Events Committee

The Events Committee’s major task is pulling together the annual awards ceremony and planning an event that celebrates the great preservation work completed the prior year. They also organize events throughout the year to get preservationists together like Preservation Month events, the Star City Social happy hours or member events like historic home tours.
