URGENT: SAVE THE HISTORICAL PRESERVATION FUND!
In Nebraska, SHPO (State Historic Preservation Office) funding from the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) is used to support various preservation activities, including roof repairs, architectural and engineering consultations, and other physical preservation projects on eligible properties. This funding is allocated through grants and sub-grants to individuals, local governments, historical societies, and other organizations.
Historic Preservation Fund (HPF):
The HPF is a federal grant program administered by the National Park Service that provides funding to SHPOs for historic preservation activities.
This grant, offered through the Nebraska SHPO, specifically supports roof repairs and replacements on eligible properties, including barns, farmsteads, libraries, downtown commercial buildings, and theaters.
Rural Nebraska Historic Preservation Grant (RNHP):
This grant, also administered by the Nebraska SHPO, funds physical preservation projects on historic properties in rural Nebraska communities.
The RNHP grant is available to individuals, local governments, historical societies, non-profit organizations, unincorporated businesses, and for-profit corporations.
The RNHP grant focuses on rehabilitating historic properties and promoting economic development in rural communities.
National Register of Historic Places:
Properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places or determined eligible for listing in communities under 30,000 are eligible for RNHP funding.
